Process documentationNotification Management

Notification management allows you to create and configure notifications in SAP MII whereas the notification details are processed in SAP PCo. The notification status is updated accordingly on creation, modification, and publishing in both SAP MII and PCo systems. New versions of the notification are created when you modify an existing notification with Current or Current-Paused status in SAP MII. For more details on notification status, see Notification Status.

Process

The following figure explains the creation, modification, and activation of notifications in SAP MII and the results in SAP PCo:

  1. Create a draft notification and publish the notification to SAP PCo.

Now, the draft notification is available in SAP PCo.

  2. Update and publish the draft notification to SAP PCo.

The updated notification is available in SAP PCo.

  3. Activate the updated notification in SAP MII.

The draft version is now current in SAP PCo.

The following figure explains the process for existing notifications in SAP MII and SAP PCo:

When you edit a notification with status Current in SAP MII, the following occurs:

  • SAP MII: A new version of the notification with status Draft is created. The existing notification with status Current is changed to Outdated

  • SAP PCo: A new version of the notification with status Draft is created. The existing notification with status Current is changed to Expiring. These pending messages can further be delivered to the configured destination system.

When you edit a notification with status Current-Paused, a new version of the notification with status Draft is created. The status changes to Current-Paused after publishing and activating the new draft version of the notification.

Recommendation Recommendation

Using multiple MII systems to manage a single notification leads to complications. That is, publishing or activating the same notification from multiple MII systems is not supported. Hence, we recommend you to use the same MII system to manage the notification from where the notification was originally created.

End of the recommendation.
