Function documentationBrowse Data Servers

You can browse the tag historians and select required tags. The tags are then stored in the SAP MII database and used in the Plant Information Catalog to create groups and tags.

Prerequisites

You have added PCo servers to the Data Servers screen.

Features

Data Servers

You search for tags from the data servers of type PCo and select the relevant tags. You can search for different groups and tags from the selected data server.

The search field in the Available Groups tab allows you to search for the relevant groups. The search field in the Available Tags tab allows you to search for a tag within a group or historian. You must choose the group and enter the search tag. If the tags are available within the group, the tags are displayed. Else, the system displays an error message.

Usage

The Usage tag on the Data Servers section displays the path of the tags used in the Plant Information Catalog section.

Add to Plant Information Catalog

You use this feature to create an alias of a tag in the Plant Catalog section. The tag chosen from the data server is a lower-level node beneath the selected group. You cannot create an alias for a group. The alias tags are grouped under a particular group. The group along with the tags is copied under the selected group.

Activities

  1. On the SAP MII administration menu, choose Plant Information Maintenance

The SAP MII: Plant Information Maintenance Administration screen appears.

  2. Select the data server from the Choose Server drop-down list.

The selected data server along with the groups appears in the Available Groups tab. The groups are displayed in a hierarchy to browse easily for the tags.

  3. Select the group in the Available Group tab.

The corresponding tags of the selected group are displayed in the Available Tags tab.

  4. Select the required tags and choose Add to Plant Information Catalog.

You can also select multiple groups. The group along with the tags and the values are duplicated as a lower-level node under the selected group in the Plant Catalog tab

    Note Note

    • If there are no groups present in a data server, a message appears prompting you to enter a mask.

    • You can search for groups based on search criteria and the group name in the Search field of the Available Groups tab. Similarly, to search or filter tags, you have to provide a tag mask in the Available Tags tab. For more information about Tag Mask, see Tag Query Details and Values.

    • The filter in the Available Tags table will filter the tags that are queried whereas the tag mask will query the tags from the plant historian systems.

    End of the note.
