You use the Alert framework to create an alert with the required specifications on the SAP MI Workbench.
You create and maintain alerts in a project on the Object tab under the MIIOBJ folder. The alert file has its own file type with extension .alrt. Only authorized roles receive alert notifications by e-mail. Only users of the mapped roles can view the alerts on the Alert Watchlist and will get corresponding notifications.
On the Template Categories tag, you use the following screens to create and configure an alert:
General
On this screen, you enter the following details for a alert:
Definition
You enter the description, severity of the alert and the expiration time. On choosing the severity, the alerts with their corresponding severity icons are displayed in the Alert Watchlist screen. You can also filter the alerts based on the severity in the Alert Watchlist screen.
Follow-up Actions
You define the actions to be taken in name-URL pairs when an alert is raised. You can add, update or delete the actions.
Container Properties
You define the context information relevant to the alert wherein you can add, update or delete the values.
Delivery Transactions
You can deliver the alert using other channels such as SMS or to perform follow up actions like creating maintainence notifications.
Role Mapping
On the Role Mapping screen, you can authorize roles to receive the alert notifications.

To create an alert in the SAP MII Workbench, do the following:
Choose
You maintain alerts as content objects in a project on the Object tab under the MIIOBJ folder. The alert screen appears.
In the Definition section, enter the following:
Short Text: Enter a placeholder that is any content with question marks symbol wherein the values will be filled in the Alert action block.
Note
Short Text field is mandatory and limited to 50 characters.
Long Text: Enter a placeholder that is any content with question marks symbol wherein the values will be filled in the Alert action block. The characters in this field should not exceed 255 characters.
Expiration (hours): Enter the expiration time of the alert in integers. You have to specify the time in hours.
Severity: Choose the severity of alerts, Low/Medium/High
In the Follow-up Actions section, enter the name and URLs in the respective columns.
Enter the name and the value in the relevant columns in the Containers section.
Note
The Name field in both Follow-Up Actions and Containers section must not 20 characters.
Enter or browse for the transaction in the Delivery Transaction section.
The transaction is executed when an alert is raised.
