You can enhance the new or existing dashboard by adding headers, footers, and displaying alerts existing for the user. You can also customize the parameters on the dashboard. Additionally, you can secure your dashboard by assigning read, write, and change access to your dashboards to either a set of users or roles. The default roles and permissions when you create a dashboard are as follows:

The assigned user or role can only read or view your dashboards.

Change

The assigned user or role can read, view, save, and modify your dashboards but cannot delete the dashboard.

Note Note

To modify your dashboards, the assigned user must have relevant UME roles to individual objects. For more information, see User Management.

For example, if your dashboard has multiple cells with i5Charts and UI element, then the assigned user must have authorization to Display Templates.

Activities

  1. From the Self Service Composition Environment screen, choose Preferences.

  2. Choose General Settings. Enter the following values:

    • Header: Enter or browse for a header from the list of displayed dashboards

    • Header Height: Sets the header height in percentage of the page

    • Footer: Enter or browse for a footer from the list of displayed dashboards

    • Footer Height: Sets the footer height in percentage of the page

    • Show Alerts: If yes, the system displays the last 5 alerts for the selected user

    • Page Refresh (Alerts): Alerts are refreshed at specified intervals

    • Page Refresh (Tags): Applicable for tags in Current mode and queries placed top of an image. The query data is refreshed at specified intervals. For tags that are not using web sockets, the current values of the tags are retrieved and refreshed at specified intervals using the catalog query.

    • CSS File: Browse or enter a CSS file to change the cell style

    • Cell Spacing Style Class: Enter a CSS class name that is available in the uploaded CSS file

    • Cell Title Style Class: CSS class name included in the CSS file that defines default style for each cell title

  3. To create new parameters, choose Parameters.

    1. Choose Add.

    2. Enter a name in Parameter Name column.

    3. Choose the type from the drop-down list of Type column.

    4. Enter a value in Default Value column.

      You can change the font type only for string values. On choosing String, the Context fields are enabled.

  4. To assign roles and permissions, choose Security.

    1. From the Available Users and Roles column, select User and enter the user's id. (Maintain Security).

    2. Choose Add.

    3. By default, User button is selected. Enter or browse for a user.

    4. Select the user and choose Apply.

    5. Assign authorizations from the Permission column and choose Apply.

    6. Do the following in the Available Users and Roles column:

      • To add users, choose User radio button, enter the user's id, search for the user, select and add using +Add field.

      • To add roles, choose Roles radio button, enter the role, search for the role, select and add using +Add field.

    7. In the Assigned Users and Roles column, select the role and the permission for the assigned role from the table.

      By default, both Users and Roles are selected and the table displays all the roles along with object type and permissions. You can delete the selected roles.
