You use the dashboard connector to receive real-time data from SAP MII and create customized dashboards.

Features

You can select a query from SAP MII, link the results from the query to the embedded spreadsheet, and create a dashboard. You can also integrate the SAP MII Plant Information Catalog with the dashboard. You can browse the Plant Information Catalog and, select the tags and groups to be displayed.

The user interface of the dashboard connector contains the following tab areas:

  • Definition

In this tab page, you can do the following:

    • Select the SAP MII server you want to use as data source by entering the SAP MII server’s hostname, port, and logon credentials.

    • Verify the connection to the SAP MII server by choosing Test Connection.

    • Choose Browse… to select the query template from which the data must be loaded.

    • Bind the result to the spreadsheet by selecting the output parameter and a spreadsheet range.

    • Verify the output response from the SAP MII system by choosing Preview XML.

    • Choose the mode of execution. The default mode is Execute Query Template. Here, you browse, select a query, and bind the parameters to a spreadsheet. On choosing Execute Catalog Object, you can browse for tags and groups from the Plant Information Catalog at design time.

  • Catalog

On selecting Execute Catalog Object as the mode of execution, you can do the following:

    • Store the tags available in the tag catalog to the parameters in the spread sheet. Choose the tags from the Catalog pane and add it to the Selected Namespace pane. Alternatively, you can pass the tag names from the spreadsheet to the connector by binding a row in the Selected Namespace pane to a cell in the spreadsheet. To do this, select a row in the Selected Namespace pane and choose Cell Selector. Select a cell in the spreadsheet and choose OK.

    • Remove the selected tags or the bindings by selecting a row in the Selected Namespace pane and move it back to the Catalog pane.

    • View the properties of the selected tag

  • Usage

In this tab page, you can configure the connection to set refresh and message options. You can do the following:

    • Set the refresh options from the Refresh Options tab.

To preview the connections in the dashboard, choose Refresh on Load.

    • In the Load Status tab page, you define messages to display when the dashboard is loading or idle.

    • Specify whether the cursor is available during loading

    • Specify whether mouse input is available.

  • Advanced

In this tab, you can use SAP MII’s query parameters and provide parameter values dynamically. This allows full flexibility of SAP MII query parameters to create a whole set of queries by just changing an input parameter. When the parameterized query is executed, the new values overrides the existing values of the query.

You can enter the values to the parameters manually in the Parameter Value column or bind any parameter to a cell value in the embedded spreadsheet by choosing Bind Input Parameters cell selector. A tool tip with precise data type appears for each parameter.
