Process documentationIntegration of Production Orders with Project Systems

In make-to-order manufacturing with project systems, there are several subassemblies in each top level assembly or finished good.

In this scenario, SAP ME is responsible for building these subassemblies.

You can use this process to do the following:

  • Manage the manufacturing of products that are too complex to be produced using production orders.

  • Plan the production processes that create the supply of materials for the project.

  • Post the material receipts and component consumption to the project.

Prerequisites

SAP ERP

In Production Planning, you have created the following:

  • Material master records for the top assembly and subassemblies

  • Bills of material (BOM) for the top assembly and subassemblies

  • Routings for production processes

In Project Systems, you have created the following:

Process

  1. In SAP ERP, when using operative projects to assemble materials, you either start with a sales order requirement or a single project.

  2. You transfer the sales order BOM of the top level assembly to the project to create the requirement elements. Alternatively, without a sales order, you transfer the manufacturing BOM of the top level assembly to the operative project to create the requirement elements.

  3. Once the materials planner converts the requirements to production orders that are also referred to as network orders, the production orders are released in SAP ERP and transferred to SAP ME for execution.

  4. You release the Production shop orders in SAP ME. Alternately, shop orders are released automatically when imported to SAP ME.

  5. When you assemble components to build the subassemblies in SAP ME, SAPMEINT sends production yield confirmations with component consumption to SAP ERP.

  6. At the end of the build process in SAP ME, SAPMEINT sends a completion / final confirmation message to SAP ERP.

  7. SAP ERP receives the subassembly quantities into project stock for the operative project.

  8. In SAP ERP, you enter confirmations for network activities within the project.

These project confirmations consume the subassemblies built in SAP ME against the network activities when you install them in the top level assembly in SAP ERP.
