You can use this procedure to scan in the inventory IDs for components being assembled.

Prerequisites

  • You have connected a linear barcode reader in parallel to the client PC's keyboard with a special cable.

  • In Material Maintenance, you have created a material (PTU_CASE_L) with Data to Collect on Assembly set to INV.

  • In Create and Release SFC, you have created and released an SFC number (PTU-000022) for this material.

Procedure

  1. In the Operation POD, enter the ASSEMBLE_PTU operation and the PTU-000022 SFC number.

  2. Choose Start.

  3. Choose Assemble.

  4. Select the row for the component PTU_CASE_L in the Component List table.

    The cursor is automatically displayed in the Inventory ID field.

  5. Scan the linear barcode on the physical component PTU_CASE_L to be assembled.

    The barcode reader puts the barcode data (string of characters representing the inventory ID) into the Inventory ID field.

  6. Tab out of the Inventory ID field.

    The cursor has moved to the Add button.

  7. Press Enter.

    The component has now been added to the As-Built record for the SFC number PTU-000022.
