You can maintain enterprise-specific document data in the document info record on the tab page Additional Data. You maintain this additional data as class characteristics. You maintain which additional data is to be maintained for each document type in Customizing for Document Management. You make the selection by assigning a class with the desired characteristics (additional data) to a document type.

If you do not use a layout, the additional data for all document types is shown in the document search results list. The display is similar to that of a field in the document info record. For example, the column width for a characteristic is tailored to the defined Number of Characters in this way. All functions for the Layout are also active for the additional data; for example, you can define that a column be sorted in ascending order.
If you maintain a wide variety of additional data in your enterprise, then the results list will be very complex.
Use the Layout functions. You can limit the results list to the desired information by using Column Selection.
