The information system for the Product Cost by Period component enables you to analyze the data updated to the product cost collectors and cost object hierarchies.

Features

Analysis of Product Cost Collectors

You can view the following data on product cost collectors in the Information System:

  • The values from preliminary costing (see also:Preliminary Costing of Product Cost Collectors)

When you create a preliminary cost estimate for a product cost collector, the cost estimate is saved with reference to a procurement alternative. You can use the reports of Product Cost Planning component to analyze the calculated cost of the procurement alternative. However, you view reports on preliminary costing for product cost collectors in the information system of Product Cost Planning and not in the information system of Product Cost by Period.

In the reports of Product Cost Planning, a cost estimate for a product cost collector will also show a procurement alternative (such as in the reports List of Existing Cost Estimates, Cost Components, and Itemization).

    Note Note

The preliminary cost estimate of a product cost collector does not update planned costs to the product cost collector.

    End of the note.
  • The actual costs (see also: Actual Costs in Cost Object Controlling)

  • The target costs (see also: Calculation of Target Costs)

  • The work in process (see also:Work in Process in Product Cost by Period)

  • The variances (see also: Variance Calculation)

    Note Note

You cannot analyze the planned costs of the manufacturing orders assigned to the product cost collector. Although it is possible to determine the planned costs of the manufacturing orders, these costs cannot be updated to the manufacturing orders.

    End of the note.
Accessing a Detailed Report

To access a detailed report, instead of entering an order number enter the material, plant, and characteristic values of the production process (example: material P-105, plant 1000, production version 0001). The system finds the product cost collector through these entries. The report shows you the name of the production process.

Analysis of Cost Object Hierarchies

To analyze the data of the Cost Object Hierarchy, use the corresponding reports for the data entry object or for the summarization object of the cost object hierarchy (see also: Cost Object Hierarchies in the Information System).
