Procedure

You are maintaining the structure node for which you want to enter details for the variants.

...

       1.      Choose the Variants tab page.

       2.      Select the variant you want to enter details for and choose This graphic is explained in the accompanying text.

The system displays the following tab pages for entering details:

      Basic Data I:

You can enter the following details:

       Material for the variant

       Color scheme

       Size data for the material

References to a phantom assembly for the material

To display the fields for each area, choose This graphic is explained in the accompanying text Open Data.

      Basic Data II:

Object dependency and configuration for variant exist/do not exist

       Administration data

      Accesses:

You can state which alternative explosion is valid in which plant with which usage for the material for the variant. This information is used in the production version, for simulating the configuration and in the model mix.

      Product Classes:

If the variant is used in different classes that can be assembled, and the object dependencies, the configuration, or the standard variant indicator varies between these classes, enter the differentiation for the variant.

The class for which you enter the differentiation must be the class of the node or a subordinate class in the class hierarchy.

      Classification:

iPPE variants can be classified in classes of class type 056. This enables you to put variants into certain categories, which you can use when evaluating, searching for, and sorting nodes.

Caution

Classifying the variants does not configure materials/products and is completely independent from the node’s assignment to a product class of class type 300.

      Documents:

You can store documents for the variant.

      Text:

You can enter long texts for the variant.

      Status:

See also: Status and Status Management
