Document management on SAP GUI uses access control lists to pass on access authorization within a folder structure. The ACL concept from SAP Easy Document Management is used (see Authorizations in SAP Easy Document Management). Note that as a prerequisite, you must define ACLs for your folders.

Document management on PLM Web UI uses PLM access control management, which supports access control lists. You can link access control management to the document info record (DIR) by entering the owning context on the General Data tab page of the DIR.
