A line hierarchy represents the structure of a production line. You create line hierarchies in the component Line Design. You can split the production line into as many line segments as required. The line segments can in turn be split into individual subelements, such as processing stations. The line can be split over as many levels as required. The lowest levels of the hierarchy are the individual takt areas.

The line hierarchy represents the structure of a production line. Splitting the production line into individual elements enables you to schedule operations and control material flow more effectively.

For example, you can include a processing station that represents a bottleneck on the production line in your scheduling process. Materials can be staged specifically at certain work centers.

Structure

The line hierarchy header represents the production line. The line segments, processing stations and so on are the individual elements that are arranged hierarchically in the line hierarchy.

In Line Design, you can display the line hierarchy as a graphic (line hierarchy graphic) and as a list (line hierarchy list).

Integration

You enter production line, line segments and sub-elements in the system as work centers, and group them into a line hierarchy by means of a graphic in Line Design.
