Material Staging (with WM) Locate this document in the navigation structure

Use

This function enables you to directly supply the production storage locations with materials using the Warehouse Management (WM) system. With this functionality, the WM system transports the required materials directly to the production storage bins, which are grouped into so-called production supply areas.

The basic concept of this functionality is that employees on the shop floor can request the material they need themselves. This leads to the creation of a transfer requirement in the WM system. Warehouse management is then responsible for staging the required materials for the production storage locations by creating a transfer order from the transfer requirement. This occurs within the framework of normal WM processing.

Integration

  • You can trigger the staging of pick parts directly in the production order.

  • You carry out the staging of release order parts using the pull list . You can also use the pull list to carry out the staging of pick parts.

Prerequisites

To be able to use this functionality, you have to set up the WM/PP interface.

Note Note

You can find a detailed description of the WM / PP interface in the document Warehouse Management Guide (MM) under Goods Issue for Production Supply

End of the note.

Features

The following functions are available within the framework of material staging:

  • You can simulate material staging.

  • You can execute material staging.

  • You can display the material staging results.

Material staging can be carried out if the order is at least partially released (this means that at least one operation must have been released).

You can start material staging with WM integration in the following ways:

  • In the production order, choose   Goto   WM Pick List   .The system prompts you through the dialog steps.

  • In the production order, choose   Functions   Material Staging   Simulate   or Execute. The remaining processing steps are carried out in the background.

  • Material staging is automatically triggered during order release. You specify in Customizing, whether the function is carried out automatically, or whether it is triggered manually.

    Note Note

In Customizing ( production scheduling profile ), you have the following options with regard to the creation of transfer requirements:

    • You can activate automatic staging. The interface must have been set up.

    • You can use an indicator to specify that only complete transfer requirements are to be created. This means that for a released operation it must be possible to create a transport requirement for each component.

    • You can specify that the committed quantity is taken into account for staging.
