An activity that the system automatically triggers at a specified point in the manufacturing process (see Hook Points).

The system provides a set of hook point activities that perform data validation, create SFC numbers and batch numbers, print bar code labels, and so on.

For more information, see Setting Up Activity Hooks and topics under Standard Hook Point Activities.

Note Note

You can also write custom hook point activities to meet your specific needs. For more information, contact your SAP ME consultant.

End of the note.

Integration

The system allows you to control where it executes hook point activities: at a site level or an individual object level.

At the site level, the system can execute hook point activities whenever any operator throughout your entire site performs certain actions. You create site level activity hooks in Site Maintenance (see Site Level Hook Points).

At the object level, the system can execute hook point activities each time operators do the following:

  • Perform an action at a specific operation (you set up the activity hook in Operation Maintenance)

  • Perform an action at a specific routing step (you set up the activity hook in Routing Maintenance)

  • Perform an action while using a specific resource (you set up the activity hook in Resource Maintenance)

  • Log a particular NC code (you set up the activity hook in NC Code Maintenance)

For more information, see Object Level Activity Hooks.

Example

You may want the hook point activity that prints documents to execute every time an operator at a PACK operation chooses Complete in the POD. This would allow you to print a packing list for each SFC number you are ready to ship. You may also want the hook point activity that validates that all components have been assembled to execute every time an operator at a particular resource chooses Complete in the POD.
