Prerequisites

You have created user accounts using SAP NetWeaver User Management Engine (UME) (see Administration of Users and Roles).

You have created user groups in User Group Maintenance.

Assigning PODs to User Groups

The system comes with a set of PODs you can use. You can also create new PODs in POD Maintenance.

If you specify the POD as an activity to which this user group has access, you can also specify which POD the system displays when a user in the group opens the POD.

  1. On the User Group Maintenance screen, the Main tab page, specify the POD you want the group to use.

  2. Save your entries.

When the operator chooses the Production Operator Dashboard link, the system opens the POD you assigned to the user group to which the operator belongs.

Controlling Which Activities Users Can Access

You can control which activities system users can access by controlling which activities appear in the Activity Manager.

The Activity Manager includes a list of the activities that the user can access on the left-hand side of the screen.

  1. On the Permissions tab page of User Group Maintenance, select the activities you want users in the group to be able to access.

  2. Save your entries.

The system displays only the selected activities in the Activity Manager list on the left-hand side of the screen when a user belonging to the group opens the system.
