Background documentationPlacing Components into Floor Stock Locate this document in the navigation structure

Using the Assembly Point and As-Built Configuration activities, operators can reference components by inventory ID. You can add components to floor stock in one of the following ways:

  • Automatically, for components you manufacture

  • Manually, for purchased components

  • Through ERP integration, for purchased components or material manufactured at a different physical location

Use the method you think is most appropriate for your production environment.

Adding Manufactured Materials to Floor Stock Automatically

The system can automatically place the SFC numbers you manufacture into floor stock as they successfully complete production. The SFC number becomes the inventory ID of the material.

To add SFC numbers to floor stock when they reach the end of their production routing, proceed as follows:

  1. In System Rule Maintenance, set the Track Inventory system rule to true (see Production Tracking Rules).

  2. When you define the component in Material Maintenance, select either of the following values in the Type field:

    • Manufactured/Purchased

    • Manufactured

Adding Purchased Components to Floor Stock Manually

Operators can use Floor Stock Receipt activity to receive purchased components into inventory (see Floor Stock Receipt).

Adding Purchased Components to Floor Stock

To add purchased components to floor stock, set up the SAPMEINT component to import floor stock records into the system.

For more information, see Transfer of Floor Stock Data.
