Triggering Replenishment for Release Order Parts via EWM Locate this document in the navigation structure

Use

In repetitive manufacturing, you can also carry out the material staging for the components that are needed in production using an SAP EWM system. The components must be release order parts . In this case, the components are administered in an EWM-managed storage location (source storage location). However, due to the backflush at the time of confirmation, the destination storage location that you have assigned to the production supply area (PSA) must be MM-IM-managed .

In the case of material staging with EWM, a stock transfer is generally carried out from an EWM-managed source storage location to an MM-IM-managed destination storage location in production. In the process, you can use a one-stepor two-step stock transfer procedure.

Caution Caution

In Repetitive Manufacturing in conjunction with EWM, you can use the pull list (material staging list) to trigger the replenishment of release order parts only. You cannot use pick parts in conjunction with EWM.

End of the caution.

Integration

You use an SAP EWM system in conjunction with ERP. For more information on the integration with EWM, follow the menu path   SAP Library   SAP ERP Central Component   Logistics   Logistics Execution (LE)   Integration of Extended Warehouse Management   Integration of Extended Warehouse Management into PP   .

Prerequisites

  • You have made the settings for material staging in repetitive manufacturing in Customizing for the Logistics Execution component under   Extended Warehouse Management Integration   Production Planning and Control   in the IMG activity Define Determination of Delivery Types. You can choose between the following options:

    Material staging processes

    Recommended delivery type

Release order parts with 1-step stock transfer

    HOD or DOG (outbound delivery)

Release order parts with 2-step stock transfer, goods receipt from stock in transit

    HID or DIG (inbound delivery)

Release order parts with 2-step stock transfer, goods issue to stock in transit

    HOD or DOG (outbound delivery)

  • The storage location that you have assigned to the production supply area (PSA) can be EWM- or MM-IM-managed.

  • You have created a control cycle for the release order part.

Because the production storage location at which the release order part is to be staged is MM-IM-managed, you can create only one control cycle per material/plant/storage location in each case. This is due to the fact that the inventory management process for the release order part is carried out at this level. For this reason you can only create one control cycle for a selected production supply area in the transactions Create Control Cycle and Change Control Cycle (LPK1, LPK2), even if there are several such supply areas for this storage location at which you wish to stage release order parts. You specify the following data in the control cycle:

    • Destination

The system automatically determines the storage location and warehouse number for the destination from the PSA for which you are creating the control cycle. The destination storage location must be MM-IM-managed.

    • You specify the Provision Indicator 3 for release order part .

    • Source

The system automatically specifies the issuing plant. You only need to enter the issuing storage location. The plants of the source and destination storage locations must be the same. The source storage location must be EWM-managed.

  • You have specified the production supply area for the relevant component in the BOM (or in the material master or production version).

  • You have set the Storage Location Level indicator on the initial screen for material staging (transaction MF60).

Features

If you have set the Storage Location Level indicator on the initial screen, the system selects from the material staging (pull) list according to requirements that must be staged in an MM-IM-managed production storage location (destination storage location). In doing so, the system does not differentiate between requirements originating from an EWM-managed or an MM-IM-managed source storage location. The system takes account of the open deliveries in the missing quantity calculation for release order parts.

The system creates deliveries in the background. The delivery constitutes the basis for material staging. The deliveries are replicated in the EWM system.
