Procedure

  1. Insert an element (or action node as a subnode to an element) in the format tree structure on the left.

  2. The system automatically displays the detailed view for the node in the right frame. This includes the following tabs: Attributes, Mapping, Conditions, File Checks, and Comment.

  3. Enter the required attribute information.

You can specify a conversion method used to convert source field data to a particular format for the DME file. This step is optional; if no conversion method is specified, data is transferred to the target field in the format it has in the incoming file.

  4. Select one of the following mapping procedures on the Mapping tab:

    Select mapping procedure

    If

    Structure field

You want to map a file value to a specific target field in the system, or you want the value from a constant or a referenced element to overwrite the source value.

In most cases, you specify that the source field in the incoming file is to fill one target field in the converted file, which corresponds to the mapping procedure Structure Field. For this mapping procedure, you also need to specify the target structure, target field, and target offset. You can enter the target structure and field directly, or you can select a field from the target field inventory.

    Action nodes

Your mapping rules are dependent on conditions or if different parts of the element are to be filled into different targets.

You then create as many action nodes as you require in the form of subnodes to the element, specifying a mapping procedure and target information for each action node. You must create at least one action node if you choose this mapping procedure.

    Exit module

The standard mapping and conversion rules do not meet your requirements and you wish to specify an exit module.

    No mapping

Data in the incoming file is not to be mapped to a target field in the converted file.

You can log this non-mapped data in the conversion program by specifying that values not mapped to target fields are to be included in the file-data log.
