Changes that you make to a production order in the ERP system are synchronized with the MES by means of the DRF functions. If you have set up DRF integration for the production order, replication is triggered in various scenarios and thus directly in the associated transactions, provided that the order has been released. In this process, the filter criteria and other prerequisites for the distribution process are checked. If a production order that has already been distributed is changed, it is automatically distributed again to the MES. Various Customizing activities enable you to control which changes are still to be permitted after the initial distribution.

Distribution by means of the transaction Select Transaction Data for Transfer (POIT) is no longer possible for production orders that match the filter criteria specified in the DRF.

Prerequisites

For better integration with the production order, use the Customizing activities offered under   Production   Integration with a Manufacturing Execution System   Integrate Production Orders with a Manufacturing Execution System  . Under Enhance IDocs for Integration with an MES, there is also a BAdI for adjusting the IDoc LOIPRO03.

You have created and activated a replication model that contains the outbound implementation for the production order (97_1).

Features

Integration for the production order has been enhanced as follows:

  • Confirmation

To ensure data consistency between SAP ME and the ERP system, the system prevents direct entry of quantity confirmations for distributed production orders. Direct confirmation of production quantities and scrap for distributed orders is carried out only using the MES. You can still enter other data such as working times for distributed production orders. Once confirmation has taken place, it can no longer be reversed.

When confirming production orders with an MES, you can now also specify the batch characteristics for batch-managed materials and the serial numbers for serialized materials.

  • Serial numbers

Every production order can be sent multiple times from the ERP system to an MES. You can specify the serial numbers that are to be used for the finished product already in the production order. IDoc LOIPRO02 is used to transmit these serial numbers to the MES. Serial numbers that have been entered or that are to be deleted are checked as part of serial number management. These checks, which you can configure in Customizing, prevent serial numbers that have already been assigned from being deleted by mistake, for example.

  • Documents and long texts

You can now add long texts and documents to the production order. You can send all types of documents, such as those for the order header, operation, or production resources/tools. If you want to attach work instructions to the production order, for example, you can do so directly or in the form of production resources/tools. If the documents have the status Released, they are also transmitted to the MES. The technical key and the URLs that refer to the originals stored in the document are transmitted. From the MES, you can call up the original documents using this URL. Data transmission occurs by means of a secure connection (https port). The service for structuring and reading a URL must be activated for this purpose. To do so, choose transaction SICF –> Default Hosts -> SAP -> co_mes_int -> co_mes_document. Select the service and choose Activate in the Service/Host menu.

    Note Note

If you want to allow several users to access an original via the URL, you must ensure that the original is located in the SAP vault or in a network directory and is not stored locally.

    End of the note.

The long texts that you entered for the order header in the transactions Create/Change Production Order (CO01/CO02) are sent. The SAPscript text is sent in the IDoc as well as a URL for reading and changing. The URL Is sent as a secure URL by default.

  • Inspection lot information

If you have created an inspection lot for a production order, the data for this inspection lot (such as inspection characteristics) is also transmitted to the MES.

  • Status field

Using a new status field in the production order, you can tell whether the order is relevant for distribution, has already been distributed, or whether the processing of the order has been completed in the MES:
