Purpose

To use decentralized process management, you must have made the relevant Customizing settings in the central and in the decentralized SAP system. The following process describes what you need to do in the decentralized SAP system:

Process Flow

You are in Customizing for Production Planning – Process Industries under Process ManagementDecentralized Process Management

You create the RFC destination of the central SAP system.

To do so, you choose the activity Define RFC Destinations for Control Recipe Destinations .

You define a control recipe destination of any destination type you like. It must, however, have the same name as the control recipe destination in the central system. Depending on how the control recipes are to be processed in the decentralized system, you must choose the corresponding destination type. If the control recipes are to be processed by an external process control system, you must enter the RFC destination of this process control system as the destination address.

To do so, you choose the activity Define and Set Up Control Recipe Destinations .

To update the status of control recipes correctly in the central and decentralizes system, you need special message categories and destinations. You copy the process message categories delivered by SAP to your plants for the decentralized system.

By copying the standard message categories:

Message category PI_CRST2: Control recipe status via order is created

Message destination PI18: Create ctrl rec. message w. order number is created

Message destination PI18 is assigned to message category PI_CRST: Message on control recipe status

To do so, you choose the activity Transport Predefined Message Categories to Decentralized SAP System .

You create a new message destination to report the following message categories to the central SAP system:

Message category PI_CRST2

All other message categories that you also want to use for reporting back to the central system (for example, PI_CONS, PI_PROD)

To do so, you choose the activity Define and Set Up Message Destinations in the Decentralized SAP System .

You adjust the message categories that you want to use to report back to the central system.

You delete the assignment of message destination PI09 to message category PI_CRST.

You assign the new message destination of Type 2 – Destination is external function that you have created in the decentralized system to message category PI_CRST2.

You decide which other message categories you want to send to the central system (for example, PI_CONS, PI_PROD). You delete the message destinations of these message categories and assign the new message destination of Type 2 – Destination is external function to them. Note that the process message categories used and the characteristics they contain must be the same in the central and decentralized system.

To do so, you choose the activity Define Process Message Categories in the Decentralized SAP System .

You make additional settings in characteristics definition.

Usually, all master data (for example, material masters) is maintained in the central system. If you want to assign values to characteristics such as PPPI_MATERIAL in the decentralized system, it is helpful if all relevant material numbers can be called up through value help there. However, this data is not available through the standard value help. Only the data maintained in the decentralized system is available.

To access the master data from the central system in the decentralized system through value help, you must specify the RFC destination of the central system in which the master data is maintained for every characteristic in characteristics definition. Note that the relevant characteristic must also exist in the decentralized system and have the same technical properties.

To do so, you choose the activity Set Up Characteristics for Process Messages in the Decentralized SAP System and choose Proc.mgmt on the Basic Data tab.
