Reporting Point Confirmation for Stock Material Locate this document in the navigation structure

Use

You can use this function if:

  • Even in the case of longer lead times, you want to record the withdrawal of components at a time that is close to the time of the operation in which they are used

  • You want to calculate the volume/value of unfinished products ("work in process").

  • You want to post scrap quantities directly at the corresponding operation.

In the case of the reporting point confirmation, the system backflushes all material components that have been consumed and posts the activities carried out at the reporting point operation for which the confirmation has been entered; it then reduces the dependent requirements in the planned orders and updates the statistics in the LIS.

You can use either the mandatory or the optional reporting point confirmation:

  • It makes sense to use the optional reporting point confirmation if you usually only confirm at the end of the production process but you also want to be able to confirm any scrap directly at the operation. In addition, the optional reporting point confirmation can be used to carry out a WIP determination at the end of a period.

  • In the case of mandatory reporting point confirmation, you post the quantity that is on the production line at that time for each reporting point. You receive a document for each reporting point. Mandatory reporting point confirmation guarantees maximum control over the production operation but requires greater time and effort.

You can control production between the reporting points via kanban (see the documentation PP Kanban Replenishment Strategy with Reporting Points ).

When you post the work in process (WIP), you temporarily work within mandatory reporting point confirmation processing because the entry of the WIP values within the optional reporting point confirmation process is carried out analogically to mandatory reporting point confirmation.

Prerequisites

  • You have assigned a suitable repetitive manufacturing profile in the material master record to be able to enter the "actual" data for a material by means of either the mandatory or the optional reporting point confirmation function.

  • You have defined optional or mandatory reporting point confirmation in the repetitive manufacturing profile.

  • In the routing for the reporting point operations, you choose a control key that has the indicator 1 (milestone confirmation) in the Confirmation field.

  • You have entered the routing in the production version of the material.

  • You have carried out a standard cost estimate or a cost estimate based on versions. The version-based cost estimate, which can be carried out at shorter intervals than the standard cost estimate, is recommended.

Features

  • In the confirmation at reporting points, the system backflushes all materials that were withdrawn and consumed at the reporting point for which the confirmation is being entered. For yields (good quantities), it reduces the dependent requirements of the oldest run schedule quantities. You can also make subsequent postings for preceding reporting points.

  • The system calculates the material and production costs and posts them to the product cost collector.

  • In the repetitive manufacturing profile, you can specify that the system is to post the goods receipt automatically when a confirmation is entered for the last reporting point. This function is particularly useful in the case of mandatory reporting point confirmation. The system does not reduce the capacities until the final quantity is confirmed (confirmation at last reporting point).

  • You can also enter "actual" times in the confirmation. The production activities are then posted on the basis of the time actually taken. See also Posting with Correction of Activities .

  • You can also confirm scrap at the reporting point, both for the assembly as well as for the components.

    • ( ) When you confirm assembly scrap, the system posts the production activities and the goods issue for the components.

( ) When you confirm component scrap, the system only posts the goods issues for the components.
