Function documentationDocument Browser Folders (Document Structures) Locate this document in the navigation structure

When you open the document browser for the first time, the system prompts you to do the following:

  • Create a public folder with the document number EDIPUBLICROOTFOLDER

When you create the public folder, the system gives you a list of document types that have been defined in Customizing. You can choose a document type that is then used for all other folders that you create. You can change the settings at a later stage on the Metadata Management screen. The public root folder is a folder to which all document management users have access and in which they can manage document structures (that is, folders) and documents.

  • Create a private folder with the document number <user name>

Only the current user can access the personal root folder and can use it to manage document structures (folders) and documents.

Once you have created the above folders, you can then manage document structures and perform functions for the following:

  • Folders (for example, you can create, copy, paste, and delete folders)

For more information, see Creating Subfolders.

  • Documents (for example, you can create, copy and paste, and delete documents within a folder)

For more information, see Creating Documents.

The set of folders, subfolders, and the documents that they contain represent the document structure.
