Definition

The business object Production Resource/Tool (PRT) is a moveable operating resource used in production or plant maintenance.

Use

The system differentiates between the following types of production resources/tools, according to their properties and business function:

  • Materials that are accounted for in materials management, for instance in inventory management, requirements planning and procurement.

  • Equipment that is serviced, for example measuring instruments or valuable tools

  • Documents that use the document management system, for example drawings or programs

  • Miscellaneous production resources/tools (with a PRT master record) that require less maintenance in the system

You can assign production resources and tools to the task lists and production orders for which they are required.

Production resources/tools that are used for testing during production can be assigned to the corresponding inspection characteristic in the inspection plan.

At the moment you cannot use PRTs in process orders.

Integration

You can use user-defined criteria to classify PRTs in order to help you find them in the system.

PRTs can be linked with a document info record so that you can refer to additional information, for example a design drawing.
