Example: Using the Planning ID for Planning Quantities Locate this document in the navigation structure

You can use the planning ID to simplify the planning of quantities per production line with an alternative unit of measure.

Example

At your plant, you fill bottles with two types of beer, regular and light. The bottles are then packed into cases.

The base unit of measure/production unit is therefore "case".

You want to use the planning table not just to plan the amount of cases, but also the amount of full bottles.

To do this, you proceed as follows:

  1. In the material master, enter "Case" as base unit of measure. Then, in the basic data of the material master record under   Extras   Units of measure   , enter the conversion factor (case = 24 for regular, and 20 for light) and the unit of measure "bottle".

  2. Create a planning ID with the number of the production line, and enter "bottle" as the unit of measure for the planning ID.

  3. In the initial screen for the planning table, enter the production line (number of the work center where the bottles are filled).

Result

The planner enters the number of cases in the planning table, the system converts this to numbers of bottles and calculates the total number of bottles filled in a period.
