Use

This procedure shows you how to trigger the replenishment of components for production using Kanban. It makes sense to use the Kanban procedure if you have maintained a kanban control cycle for your supply area. The pull list only supports event-driven Kanban. For more information, see Event-Driven Kanban .

Prerequisites

For material staging using Kanban, you must maintain a production supply area with a control cycle (suited to event-driven Kanban) for each component in the BOM (in the material master or in the production version).

Secondly, in addition to the standard entries, such as plant, selection period, you must have made certain settings for the Kanban procedure in the initial screen for the pull list:

  • You must have selected the staging type ‘Event-driven Kanban’.

This brings you directly to the Kanban view. The system also only selects the corresponding requirements.

  • You can adopt the standard settings for Global Settings .

You can control the selection of certain components by entering additional filter criteria.

When calculating the missing parts, the system assumes that all kanbans in the supply area are full - that is the kanbans already there as well as the ones on their way to the supply area. In some circumstances, if a kanban is not full, this can misrepresent the results and necessitate a manual adjustment of the replenishment proposals,.

Procedure
  1. Select the components for which you wish to trigger replenishment.

  2. Choose Create Replenishment Proposals .

The system automatically proposes the full missing parts quantity as the replenishment quantity. However, you can also enter the replenishment quantity manually.

  3. Choose List of Replenishment Elements .

The system opens a second table, which gives information on the type of replenishment. In this table you can also change the staging quantity.

( ) If, in the Global Settings , you defined that the system is to open the table of replenishment elements automatically when accessing the pull list then this step is not necessary.

  4. Select at least one replenishment proposal and choose Stage .

The system checks that the data you entered is correct. If it is correct, the appropriate replenishment proposals are marked with a check.

  5. Save your input.

The system creates kanban replenishment elements, that is, kanbans are generated and set to "empty".

Result

The supply source receives the empty kanban or the corresponding information and commences replenishment. The source can be another warehouse (for example central warehouse) or, in external procurement, a supplier, or your own production.
