Lists are often used to display data in an easier way, that is, structures connected in a table that consist of colums and rows.

In an SAP system, lists display the following information:

  • Report analyses

  • Search results

  • Possible input values (in some cases)

SAP List Viewer (ALV)

Many applications use the SAP List Viewer (ALV) for displaying lists. In this way it is ensured that a specific set of basic functions is always available for the relevant list type. Other functions can be enhanced by the application development.

Functions in ALV Lists

The data in a list can be sorted or filtered using the ALV. It is possible to execute calculations, such as the creation of sums. The display of the list can be varied by showing or hiding columns.
