Processing the Material Master Locate this document in the navigation structure

Prerequisites

To be able to process the material master, you must first have created the material master records of the materials to be planned. This procedure only describes the entries for MRP and work scheduling required for Sequencing.

Procedure

  1. Enter the MRP type and the MRP controller.

  2. Enter a strategy group that allows make-to-stock production or make-to-order production (also with configuration or assembly processing).

  3. For all materials, enter the unit of measure (for example, piece) that you also want to specify in the line hierarchy as the unit of measure of the production line. If you want to specify a different unit of measure, you then also have to define a conversion factor in the unit of measure of the production line.

  4. In the MRP data, select the Repetitive Manufacturing indicator and enter a REM profile.

  5. For every material, create a production version in which you enter the production line or the line hierarchy.

If you produce a material on several production lines, you must create a production version for each production line. In the sequence schedule, you can only dispatch a material to production lines for which you have created a production version.

  6. Set the alternative selection indicator ( BOM explosion section of the screen) to Selection by production version. Only if you have done this does the planning run automatically assign the planned orders created to the production version and therefore to the production line. Alternatively, you can also determine the production version using a quota arrangement.

  7. In the work scheduling data, enter the production scheduler. For this production scheduler, you must set sequencing in Customizing in the IMG activity Define Scheduling Parameters for Planned Orders. You define this scheduling parameter per production scheduler, plant and order type (PE). Under Sequencing , select the takt-time/rate-based scheduling and choose date adjustment with the scheduling level Sequencing.

Result

You have entered the necessary data in the material master. For more information, see the SAP Library LO - Material Master .
