Procedure documentationPersonalizing Portal Pages Locate this document in the navigation structure

Your administrator defines the content for each page assigned to you, as well as a default layout and whether or not you are allowed to change the default settings for a page.

If you have proper authorization, you can:

  • Choose between the layouts that have been assigned to the page

  • Add other iViews that have been assigned to you but which do not appear on the page

  • Reposition the iViews on a page

Personalization is done in the Personalize Page environment, which includes the Portal Content tree structure displaying all the content assigned to you, allowing you to add additional iViews and pages to the current page.

Procedure

  1. Open the page that you want to personalize.

  2. From the page title bar, choose the Options icon and from the dropdown menu choose Personalize. The Personalize Page environment of the page in focus appears.

You can also access the personalization options from the portal header area. Choose   Personalize   This Page  .

  3. Personalize the page as per the information provided below.

  4. Save your changes.

Personalization Options

You can perform any of the following operations to personalize your portal pages:

Select a New Layout:

From the Current Layout dropdown list, choose your preferred layout.

  • 1 Column (Full Width) (1 Column (Full Width))

  • 2 Columns (Equal Width) (2 Columns (Equal Width))

  • 2 Columns (Narrow:Wide) (2 Columns (Narrow:Wide))

  • 2 Columns (Wide:Narrow) (2 Columns (Wide:Narrow))

  • 3 Columns (Narrow:Wide:Narrow) (3 Columns (Narrow:Wide:Narrow))

  • T-Layout (Top - Full Width; Bottom - 2 Equal Width) (T-Layout (Top - Full Width; Bottom - 2 Equal Width))

  • T-Layout (Top - Full Width; Bottom - Narrow:Wide) (T-Layout (Top - Full Width; Bottom - Narrow:Wide))

  • T-Layout (Top - Full Width; Bottom - Wide:Narrow) (T-Layout (Top - Full Width; Bottom - Wide:Narrow))

  • Double-T (Top/Bottom - Full Width; Middle - 2 Equal Width) (Double-T (Top/Bottom - Full Width; Middle - 2 Equal Width))

Note Note

  • Your administrator can limit the number of layouts available to you. If only one item appears in the list, this means that the administrator assigned only the default layout when creating the page.

  • If you select a layout consisting of more than one column, all the page content is automatically displayed in the first column. You can then arrange the content as you wish.

End of the note.
Repositioning iViews/Pages:
  1. Specify the column in which you want to display an object by doing the following:

    1. In the Page Content and Layout Settings list, select the object that you want to reposition.

      Note Note

Some items might be locked to a certain position.

      End of the note.
    2. From the Container dropdown list, choose the target column.

  2. Specify the position of an object within its column by doing the following:

    1. Select the object that you want to reposition.

    2. Choose Move Up or Move Down to position the object accordingly.

You can also reposition objects within pages by dragging them to a new position.

Adding iViews/Pages:

The page personalization screen includes a panel where you can find the content assigned to you so that you can add it to the page. This panel shows the Portal Content tile, containing a list of all content assigned to you arranged in content containers. Depending on your portal configuration, you may also see the Role-Based Content tile, which displays the content assigned to you arranged according to your roles.

Note Note

The following content types are not displayed in the Role-Based Content tile:

  • Federated Portal Network (RRA and RDL)

  • Web Page Composer (areas and pages)

  • Related items (dynamic navigation and related links)

  • Content from external connectors (for example, enterprise workspaces)

End of the note.
  • To add an iView or page to the page that you are personalizing, in the context menu of the item, choose Add iView / Page to Page. You can also drag the item to the page.

  • You can add the same iView to a page more than once by repeating the Add iView to Page operation.

  • When you add a page to a page, it inserts as an iView, into the first column, and displays according to its own layout. Therefore, if you add a page that has a two-column layout with iViews in both columns, that page fits into the first column of the page you are personalizing and displays its two columns, but on a smaller scale.

  • If you want to reposition the page that you added, move the entire page; you cannot move its individual elements.

Searching for Content to Add

In the Portal Content panel, the Find field allows you to search the Portal Catalog for an iView or page that you may want to add to a page.

For example, you may not be familiar with all the content that is assigned to you, but you are interested in having an iView that accesses the World News site. You can enter World News in the Find field to see if such an iView has been assigned to you and whether you can add it to your page.

To find content and add it to your page:

  1. Enter the search string in the Find field and choose Go.

    Note Note

For additional search options, choose Advanced Find. In the advanced search, you can search according to the Name, ID, or Description property of an object, and further narrow your search to search in specific folders or object types.

    End of the note.
  2. In the search results table, select the item that you want to add to the page and choose Locate in Tree.

  3. In the context menu of the item, choose Add iView / Page to Page.

Removing iViews/Pages from a Page:

To remove an object from a page, deselect the Visible checkbox. This does not delete the object from your assigned content. It remains part of the page's content and can be reinstated on the page at any time.

Reverting to Default Settings

Choose Restore Defaults to reset the content and layout of the page to the default settings defined by the content administrator.
