Authentication Infrastructure

You can use this section for an overview of the underlying technology to support user authentication and SSO in the SAP NetWeaver technology stacks.

The user authentication and SSO functions of SAP NetWeaver are supported by the underlying application server technology stacks. Thereby, the AS Java and AS ABAP offer the application server level infrastructural mechanisms to support user authentication and SSO for corresponding SAP NetWeaver usage types.

If you have SAP NetWeaver Portal in your landscape, the portal uses supplemental mechanisms to support authentication for portal iViews. For more information, see the portal documentation.
