Use

Multiple layers can exist for an original application file. For example, several employees enter commentaries in separate layers, or save measurement data in layers.

To analyze the information effectively you can compare two layers with each other. This comparison quickly provides you with the correct information.

Prerequisites

You are displaying an original application file (2D format) that has been imported via the Knowledge Provider into a storage system.

Procedure

Carry out the following steps in the viewer function bar:

  • To check if at least two layers are available for the original application file, choose Layer.

You get a list of layers. If a layer is already loaded, it is indicated with a checkmark.

  • To start the comparison, choose   Tools   Compare Layers.

A new function bar is displayed.

  • Choose ( ) ( Load and Compare ).

The dialog box Select Original appears. Specify the two layers that you want to compare. Confirm your entries.

You get the function bar for the comparison.

  • The following functions are provided to support your analysis:

  • ( ) Display Both Layers

The contents of the two layers are laid over each other like slides. To allow you to differentiate between the contents of the two layers, they are displayed in different colors.

  • ( ) Intersection

Only the information that is identical in both layers is displayed.

  • If you want to end the comparison, choose ( ) ( Back to Viewer ).
