You can transfer an item of equipment (such as a production machine) and information relating to the measuring points from the ERP system to a Manufacturing Execution System (MES).

Prerequisites

You have created and activated a replication model with the outbound implementation for the equipment (183_1).

Features

When you create and change the equipment (using transactions IE01 and IE02), the data is transmitted to an MES by means of the DRF functions. When you have created an item of equipment, you can define filter criteria in transaction DRFF.

The following selection criteria determine the distribution of the equipment to an MES:

  • Equipment

  • Equipment category

  • Plant

  • Work center

You trigger the distribution in the transaction Execute Data Replication (DRFOUT).

Measuring points

The measuring points for an item of equipment are not replicated via the DRF but are addressed by both the ERP and the ME system. In order that you can plan the maintenance of your production machines in ERP, the relevant measuring points must be known in both systems and have the same name. If a machine is to be maintained after a running time of 20 hours or after having achieved a production quantity of 10,000 pc for example, the MES must be able to send back information on these values to the ERP system.

In the transaction Create Measuring Point (IK01), you define which measuring values you want to have reported back from the MES to the ERP system. In the standard system, ERP supplies characteristics for the following values:

  • Machine operating time, characteristic SAP_EAM_MES_OPERATING_TIME

  • Production quantity, characteristic SAP_EAM_MES_PROD_QUANTITY

You can enter these characteristics under General Data. In Characteristics Management (transaction CT04). you can enter additional data relating to these characteristics. If the characteristics are also known to the MES, the latter can generate measurement documents via a function module.
