Use

The kanban board gives both the demand source (consumer) and the supply source (supplier) a detailed overview of kanban circulation. In addition, you can use the kanban board to trigger the kanban signal.

When displaying the kanban board, you can choose between a tabular and a graphical representation. You control this using the Tabular Display indicator on the initial screen. In the standard system, the indicator is not set.

If you are working in the SAP system in accessibility mode , the Tabular Display indicator is set in the standard system.

Features

Kanban Status

The statuses of the kanbans are shown in a separate table column. There is one column for the status and another for the short text for the status. You can define the status short texts yourself in Customizing.

The kanban data is represented in different colors according to status. The meaning of the colors is shown in the legend (   Kanban Board   Display Legend).  

If you wish to change the status of a kanban and the desired status is not allowed, you get an error message. You can subsequently view the error message in the error log.

Display Options

Each kanban of a control cycle is represented in a separate line. The data of a line is divided into control cycle and kanban data.

You can use the standard list functions when you work with the list (sort entries in ascending or descending order, print, set filter, etc.). You can show or hide the standard list functions.

You can create and choose one or more navigation profiles for the toolbar and the context menu (see Navigation Profiles ).

Automatic Refreshing

Under Automatic Refresh , you can specify that the data on the kanban board automatically refreshes after a certain time. For this purpose, the system reads the current data of the control cycles, the kanbans, and their statuses.

If a time has already been specified in Customizing under   Production   Kanban   Kanban Board   Display of Kanbans on the Kanban Board   , you can change it on a user-specific basis.

Triggering the Kanban Signal

You have the option of changing the status of kanbans on the kanban board by selecting one or more kanbans.

You can also create a new kanban for an event-driven control cycle on the kanban board (via   Edit   Generate Kanban)   . To do so, enter the requested quantity in the ensuing dialog box and choose Generate Event-Driven Kanban.

Additional Information

  • You can call up additional information on a kanban by double-clicking on the line. In the dialog box you can change or display the replenishment element for empty kanbans via ‘Change Replenishment’ or ‘Display Replenishment’. If errors have occurred, you can display the error messages.

  • Via Goto , you can branch to control cycle maintenance, the material master data, the stock/requirements list, and the stock overview.

  • Via Goto , you can also invoke the kanban correction facility for a control cycle (see also Kanban Correction ).

Reporting Point Information

For control cycles with a replenishment strategy using reporting point processing, you can display the reporting point stock via   Goto   Reporting Point Stock   (see also Replenishment Strategy with Reporting Points ).

You can also show columns for reporting points and work centers for these control cycles. To do so, choose   Settings   Display Control Cycle   and adopt the Reporting Point and Work Center columns from the column set in the selection of columns displayed.

Activities

Select the Tabular Display indicator on the initial screen of the kanban board.
