The Significance of Stock Determination in the Pull List Locate this document in the navigation structure

Use

If you use direct stock transfers in the pull list, the replenishment storage location must be given for each component.

The replenishment storage location is the location from which the material is taken and transported to production, or to the production storage location beside a production line.

You can either enter the replenishment storage location manually or the system can determine it automatically using the stock determination function.

Integration

If a component is a material which must be handled in batches, then in addition to stock determination, batch determination is activated.

Prerequisites

  • Under Stock Determination in Customizing for Inventory Management, you must define the stock determination strategy at plant level. This consists of entering a stock determination group and a stock determination rule, which in turn requires further parameters.

  • In the workstep Define control data for pull list in Customizing for Repetitive Manufacturing, you must assign the stock determination rule at plant level. Here you also assign the batch search procedure for materials handled in batches.

  • You must assign the stock determination group to the component in the material master record.

Features

Determining the storage location

Stock Determination determines the replenishment storage location according to the parameters you defined in the strategy. The replenishment storage location is the storage location from which the components are withdrawn for transport to production. These components can be from in-house or from consignment stock.

The replenishment storage location and, when appropriate, the batch number (if Batch Determination is also set) are displayed in the pull list in the fields Replenishment Storage Location and Batch .

For components from consignment stores, the system also displays the vendor and the special stock indicator K .

Open quantities

If the required replenishment quantity cannot be satisfied by one stock (for example, one storage location), the system can select several stocks at once. For example, the system can adopt several replenishment storage locations. The pull list then displays the replenishment storage locations for each replenishment proposal with the quantities available.

If an open quantity is left, the system creates an item in the pull list displaying the open quantity. The system also creates a log of open quantities.

Stock Determination in the background or in dialog mode

Stock Determination can run in the background or online. If you run it in dialog mode, the system displays the storage locations it has determined and you can adopt one or more.

You enter the dialog control indicator in Customizing for Stock Determination in the workstep Define strategies for stock determination in the Stock Determination Header Table .

Activities

You activate Stock/Batch Determination in the pull list by selecting the proposals in the list of replenishment proposals and choosing the pushbutton Stock/batch determination .
