Use

This function plans the sequence in which you produce the planned orders on your production line for one planning period in each case and according to a certain planning procedure. The system carries out sequence planning each time sequencing is invoked.

If you have inserted sort buffers between two line segments, the sequence of the orders in the line segments may change. In the line hierarchy, you can choose different procedure profiles for separate sublines separated by sort buffers. The settings in Line Design have take priority over the settings in Customizing for Sequencing.

Integration

  • You define the procedure profile for the creation of sequences and the planning period in Customizing for Sequencing.

  • Sequence planning is automatically carried out when you invoke the sequencing function. Once the sequence of the planned orders has been determined, takt-based scheduling is carried out to determine the exact production start and finish dates.

Features

The system determines all planned orders that lie in the period of examination and dispatches them as early as possible according to the procedure you have defined in Customizing. You can choose one of the following procedures:

  • Manual planning procedure

When you invoke sequencing, the system first assigns all new planned orders to the section Orders Not Yet Dispatched . Then you can select the planned orders using drag and drop and dispatch them to a production line.

  • First in, first out (FIFO) procedure

The system uses the internal “first in, first out” procedure. This procedure first dispatches all planned orders for make-to-order repetitive manufacturing according to the sales order number and item. Then it dispatches the planned orders for make-to-stock repetitive manufacturing on the basis of the planned order number. In this process, therefore, it is the time at which you enter a sales order or create a planned order that determines the dispatching sequence. This procedure gives sales orders higher priority.

  • External optimization or model-mix procedure

You can link up an external optimization or model-mix procedure via an interface (POI).

  • Customer exit/Business Add-In

You can define your own dispatching/scheduling sequence using the customer exit LASP0101 or the BAdISP_PLDLORD_SEQUENCING (BAdI for Sequence Planning of Planned Orders) in the enhancement spot ES_LASP_SEQUENCE_PLANNING.

  • Production smoothing/leveling (heijunka)

The system attempts to distribute the production volume in an optimal way. You have various setting options for the heijunka process. For example, you can specify that:

    • The same materials are to be dispatched together within a period

    • Otimum mixing is to be achieved according to the principle of prioritized equal distribution

    • Equally distributed dispatching of the planned orders is to take place within a period

You can change the scheduling/dispatching sequence of the planned orders using the Business Add-In SP_PLDORD_SORTING (BAdI for sorting of planned orders) in the enhancement spot ES_LASP_SEQUENCE_PLANNING.
