 Delete Archived PI Sheets and Work Instructions Locate this document in the navigation structure

Use

After the optical archiving of PI sheets or work instructions, you can delete the associated database content (such as database tables POC_DB* or XML data) from the database to improve system performance.

Procedure

Deletion of Database Content
  1. Call up the archiving transaction by choosing   Logistics   Production - Process   Process Management   PI Sheet   Archiving   or   Logistics   Production   Shop Floor Control   Process Integration   Work Instructions   Archiving   from the SAP Easy Access menu .

    The initial screen Archiving of PI Sheets/Work Instructions appears.

  2. Select the Delete Archived Objects o ption.

    The initial screen of the deletion report appears.

  3. Enter the selection criteria for the PI sheet or work instructions and set the Direct Deletion Without Preselection (ALV Result List) indicator. The system then deletes the database content of the PI sheets or work instructions you selected.

  4. If you do not set the Direct Deletion Without Preselection (ALV Result List) indicator, the system carries out a preselection and shows the result in an ALV grid list . Select the PI sheets or work instructions to be deleted and choose the Delete DB Data pushbutton.

    The Deletion of PI Sheets/Work Instructions dialog box appears.

  5. Choose the Yes button if you want to delete the object.

    The system displays the log for deletion.

Deletion with Background Job
  1. To carry out the deletion as a background job, choose the Delete Objects with Background Job option on the initial screen of the archiving transaction.

  2. Create a report variant. In this variant, set the Direct Deletion Without Preselection (ALV Result List) indicator.

    Note Note

    If you do not set the Direct Deletion Without Preselection (ALV Result List) indicator, the execution of the background job is terminated. The log of the job contains an entry referring to the unset indicator.
