Use

The supply source can also work with the kanban board. It can see its worklist: the kanban board provides it with an overview of which kanbans are still full and which ones need to be replenished.

On the kanban board from the supply-source view, the system displays the control cycles with all kanbans currently in circulation together with their current statuses. The supply source can also change the statuses of kanbans in its view.

Prerequisites

  • You have made presettings for the kanban board in Customizing for the bar chart.

  • You have made the Customizing settings for the kanban board or made the user-specific settings for display on the kanban board. In the case of the user-specific settings, you have the same options as in Customizing. The user-specific settings override the Customizing settings.

Procedure

  1. Starting from the Kanban menu, choose   Control   Kanban Board   Supply Source View.

The system branches to the initial screen of the supply source.

  2. Enter:

The plant and the person responsible for the supply source (in the case of in-house production)

The issuing plant (in the case of plant-to-plant delivery)

The vendor (in the case of external procurement)

The plant and the storage location (in the case of stock transfer)

The material number as a further selection criterion

If you need additional selection criteria, you can use the Extended Selection function . Choose Extended Selection and enter your selection criteria in the ensuing dialog box.

Do not set the Tabular Display indicator.

You can save the settings chosen to invoke the kanban board for subsequent sessions via   Kanban Board   Save Settings   .

  3. Choose Continue .

Depending on the selection criterion, the kanban board appears with one or more production supply areas.

  4. To assign another status to a kanban from within the supply-source view, select the kanban and choose Set Kanban Status to In Process or Set Kanban Status to In Transit. All other statuses can be found in the menu under Edit .

Depending on the replenishment strategy, the system performs the appropriate transactions and makes the relevant postings in the background.

You have the option of selecting several kanbans at the same time and changing their status. If you have selected a kanban for which the desired status is not allowed, you get a system message. The status of this kanban remains unchanged.

To generate an event-driven kanban, select a line from the corresponding control cycle and choose   Edit   Generate Kanban   . In the ensuing dialog box, enter the requested quantity before choosing Generate Event-Driven Kanban.
