Additional information

Display reqd chars

Characteristics that are required are marked as such in an additional column.

  • Scope

Required / optional characteristics

For required characteristics, you must assign a value when you classify an object to complete the classification. The Entry required indicator is set for these characteristics in a characteristics or class maintenance function.

This is what happens when you assign values to characteristics:

  • If you try to leave the value assignment screen without assigning a value to a required characteristic, you see the possible entries dialog box for the required characteristic, and can select a value.

  • If you want to leave the value assignment screen without assigning a value to a required characteristic, set the classification status to Incomplete. You can exclude objects with incomplete classifications when you use classes to find objects.

You do not have to assign a value to optional characteristics.

To display the required and optional characteristics in value assignment, the indicators must be set in the user settings.

With assigned values / without values

You can decide whether the characteristics that have assigned values or the characteristics that do not yet have assigned values are displayed.

With inherited chars

Characteristics inherited from superior classes or characteristics from multiple classification are displayed.

With additional characteristics

The Reference Characteristics that are assigned to a class or class type are displayed on the value assignment screen of the find objects function, where you can assign values to them.

With excluded chars

All characteristics that are excluded by dependencies are displayed.
