You use this activity to enable a user to change his or her password once it has expired. When the user tries to log on, Change User Password Standalone or Plug-In is displayed depending on the settings.

Prerequisites

You have defined the number of days when the password expires and prevents the user from logging on to the system in the Days Before Password Expires field in the System Rule Maintenance (see System Setup Rules).

Note that this rule can be overridden at site and user levels.

You have selected to execute the User Preference Maintenance activity on the Permissions tab page in User Group Maintenance.

Procedure

To change a user password in the standalone activity, proceed as follows:

  1. In User Preference Maintenance, enter your login ID and password.

  2. Retrieve the data. The system displays your first and last name on the Main tab page.

  3. In the New Password field, enter your new password.

  4. In the Confirm Password field, reenter your new password.

  5. Save your entries.

Note that the user cannot change the password when the LDAP service is enabled.
