A number of similar materials, a single material, or a parcel of materials treated as one and to which an identification number has been assigned (see Material)

In Material Maintenance, you use the Lot Size field to specify the amount of a particular material that is purchased from a supplier or issued as a standard quantity to be built in the production process.

Note Note

If the material has a lot size of one, an operator can use the Serialize pushbutton in the POD to renumber the SFC number (see SFC Number).

End of the note.

In the SFC Report, the quantity of the SFC number is the lot size of the corresponding material.

If you buy or build materials in lots, you need to specify Any Number or Whole Number in the Qty Restriction field on the Main tab page of Material Maintenance.

Example

Reels of resistors and capacitors, or boxes of printer cables are considered as lots.
