You use this activity to indicate you are ready to begin the physical work on selected SFC numbers at your operation and resource. In the Standard POD, the SFC numbers you have started are displayed with checkmarks in the Active Work List.

The Start activity validates that the selected resource is in a current state to process a product and is not in the Pending status. The Pending status indicates that the resource is currently active with a product but will be scheduled for downtime once the last active SFC number has been completed.

This activity changes existing data because SFC numbers in queue at an operation that may use this resource for processing cannot be started until the preventive maintenance process is completed. The SFC number will need to be processed on a different resource for the selected operation. If no other resource is available, the product will wait until the resource is in a Productive status.
