You use this activity to record the receipt of floor stock inventory on the shop floor. You can record location and material reservation and to create multiple inventory ID records based upon the receive quantity and lot size quantity defined for the material. This activity also allows the input of the material traceability fields for multiple inventory IDs if configured. Note that it requires a material location or reservation based upon a new activity rule.

The following table describes rules and settings that you can change for this activity in Activity Maintenance:

APPLY_ALL_DATA

YES (default): The inventory receipt data fields are enabled in the Inventory Receipt screen and values entered in these fields are applied to all of the inventory IDs created, except for the data updated on the Inventory ID Details screen.

NO: The inventory receipt data fields are disabled in the Inventory Receipt screen and the user is required to enter the data for each inventory ID in on the Inventory ID Details screen.

Note that this only applies to data fields that are applicable to more than one inventory ID.

AUTOMATIC_ID_GENERATION

YES: The inventory ID is automatically created according to the next number definition.

NO (default): The user enters the inventory ID manually.

INVENTORY_LOCATION_REQ

YES: The user is required to provide location details for each inventory ID.

NO (default): Providing location details for each inventory ID is optional.

Selected: The inventory ID can only be used by SFC numbers that move through that work center, operation, resource and/or shop order.

Cleared: The inventory ID is allocated for information purposes but is not locked.

Procedure

To add a material to an inventory, proceed as follows:

  1. On the Inventory Receipt screen, enter the material and the material's version that you want to associate with an inventory ID.

  2. Enter the material's quantity that has been received for the inventory ID.

  3. If required, enter data for the displayed assembly data fields.

  4. Choose Create to automatically create an inventory ID number.

  5. Enter the required data and make the required settings in the table. Note that the table fields are active only if the data you entered for the material, the material's version and the material's quantity is valid.

    Note Note

    The default value of QTY for serialized materials (lot size is 1.0) is 1. For nonserialized materials, the default value is based upon the lot size of the material as defined in Material Maintenance.

  6. On the Inventory ID Details screen, enter the required data and make the required settings.

  7. In the Inventory ID Data Details screen area, enter data as required.

  8. In the Inventory ID Location screen area, make the required settings.

  9. Choose Apply.

  10. Choose Receive when you have filled out all required fields.
