You use this activity to create and change reason codes known as predefined comments or reasons that can be logged when executing production activities on the manufacturing shop floor (see Reason Code). These activities include the corrective action to clear an event, the reason why a product is placed on immediate or future hold, the receipt of material for shop floor consumption, the change of shop floor equipment, or the definition of an engineering change request.

The following table describes fields requiring explanation:

Category

The grouping of reason codes

Corrective Action: Codes that can be logged when clearing events through the Event Viewer.

Hold: Codes that can be logged when placing SFC numbers on immediate or future hold.

ECO Change Request: Codes that can be logged when submitting the request to change product on the manufacturing shop floor.

Equipment Status: Codes that can be logged when changing the equipment status.

Inventory: Codes that can be logged when receiving or changing inventory records.

Status

Controls whether the reason code is available for use on the shop floor.

For the Corrective Actions category:

If enabled, the operator can use corrective actions when clearing events through the Event Viewer.

For the Hold category:

If enabled, the operator can put SFC numbers on hold using the reason code.

For the ECO Change Request category:

If enabled, the operator can submit the request to change the product on the manufacturing shop floor using the reason code.

For the Equipment Status category:

If enabled, the operator can change the equipment status using the reason code.

For the Inventory category:

If enabled, the operator can receive or change inventories using the reason code.

Event Type

The event type that is triggered when a reason code is logged during the production activity.
