Use

Equipment master records can also be created automatically. The most widely-used options for controlling this are as follows:

Automatic creation of a piece of equipment when creating a serial number

In Customizing of serial number management you configure the serial number profile such that a serial number (for example, for goods receipt) is automatically created as an equipment master record.

Caution

If you use both options, you should ensure that there are not two equipment master records for one and the same object within the corresponding processes (for example, when creating the asset in the purchase order for the maintenance order and then when posting the goods receipt for the purchase order).
