Editing Production Versions
You use production versions to determine which alternative BOM is used with a routing to produce a material or create a master production schedule.
Production versions are used in sales & operations planning (SOP), material requirements planning, creating production orders as well as product costing to select the most suitable routing.
The material, for which you want to create a production version, must exist in the system.
For one material you can have several production versions for various validity periods and lot-size ranges.
You assign each production version to an alternative BOM and up to three work centers for different planning levels.
· In detailed planning you determine which routing is used for materials requirements planning, product costing and in production orders.
· In rate-based planning you determine which (rate) routing is used in repetitive manufacturing.
· In preliminary planning you determine which rough-cut planning profile is used for sales and operations planning.
· If you want to create capacity requirements during preliminary planning, you can use a routing instead of a rough-cut planning profile.
You edit production versions for a material in the material master record in the Work scheduling view (see the SAP Library Material Master (LO-MD-MM). There you can:
· Create several production versions for one material/routing combination
· Delete production versions
