Consumption-Relevant Counter-Reading
Recording
You can use the consumption-relevant counter-reading recording for vehicles to:
● Enter the counter readings (such as number of kilometers traveled or operating hours) for vehicles
● Enter the consumed operating supplies (such as fuel or oil)
● If necessary update material documents for vehicle consumption
● If necessary determine rules for the average consumption and therefore control the entered consumption
Using the entered data the system calculates the consumption values of you vehicle.
The consumption-relevant counter-reading recording is part of the Fleet Management of Plant Maintenance (PM) and of Customer Service (CS).
For information on the prerequisites for recording the consumption and the counter readings for vehicles in the system, see Fleet Management.
● You have created at least one fuel counter as well as a ‘primary counter’ that measures the distance traveled or the operating time.
● In Customizing for Plant Maintenance and Customer Service you have defined the rules for the consumption control under Define Tolerance Check for the Consumption Control.
Enter the key for the tolerance created here in the piece of equipment on the tab page Vehicle – Technology under Consumption Check.
● In Customizing for Plant Maintenance and Customer Service you have defined the settings for updating the material documents under Consumption-Relevant Counter-Reading Updates. You have defined the following:
○ Auxiliary- and expendable material types for vehicles
○ Cost objects for the material posting
Enter the key for the goods movement created here in the piece of equipment on the tab page Vehicle – Technology under Material Consumption.
The vehicle consumption data is updated to a corresponding measurement document in the Plant Maintenance Information System (PMIS) when you save, as long as you have made the necessary settings in Customizing for Plant Maintenance and Customer Service under Configure Measurement Document Update.
You can use the vehicle consumption analysis to evaluate the corresponding standard information structure (S114).
For further information on updating, see Plant Maintenance Information System and Key Figures for Vehicle Consumption Analysis.
You can call up the consumption transaction of a vehicle and enter a gas station. Depending on the way you enter, various functions are available.
You can see all consumption-relevant counters for the given vehicle, these are separated according to consumption and activity counters. Using indictors it is clear which functions have a counter (such as consumption-relevant counter, primary fuel or distance counter).
For these counters you can update the counter reading and, for example, enter the fuel consumption quantity or the distance traveled or the operating time. For the activity counter the last current counter reading is provided for information.
For the creation of counter readings you can activate consumption control this means the system checks the entered consumption data to see that the entries are within the permitted value ranges. The allowed range is determined from the previously entered values with the help of the average consumption.
The consumption control only checks the counter reading of the counters that are defined in Customizing of Plant Maintenance and Customer Service under Calculation Methods for Consumption Values for this vehicle. In most cases fuel and mileage are controlled. All other entries are accepted without checks.

Note that, for the consumption recording, delta values are recorded (for example, 50 I, 55 I, 52 I), for which counter readings become absolute values , that is, total counter readings are recorded (for example, 50 I, 105 I, 157 I).
In addition to the functions available to you when entering without tables you can update material documents when you enter with gas station.
If you enter the consumption for a vehicle using the counter reading recording (measurement reading entry) then this refers to a material withdrawal from the location ‘gas station’ for the relevant operating supply. For each consumption counter you can select additional operating supplies for which material documents are automatically generated when saving. You determine the material that the system should update, in Customizing (see prerequisites).
You can reverse all of the measurement and material documents that were created at one point in time.
Activities

What You Should Know |
Record consumption for vehicles |
Use one of the following menu paths: ● Logistics → Plant Maintenance → Management of Technical Objects → Equipment → Measuring Documents → Record Consumption for Vehicles ● Logistics → Customer Service → Management of Technical Objects → Equipment → Measuring Documents → Record Consumption for Vehicles |
Display consumption data of a vehicle |
In the vehicle master record, call up
the tab page Vehicles – Technology and choose In the case of planned maintenance, the system displays the date of the next scheduled service. |
Reverse Measurement Documents and Material Documents |
In the Enter Usage for Vehicles transaction, enter a vehicle and, if required, the gas station. Choose Reverse Documents. Specify the time period for the documents that are to be deleted and choose Continue. You are taken to an overview of all of the documents where you can delete the documents.
Note: You can only delete all documents created for one point in time all at once. |
