Function documentation MPL Checks Options During Installation  Locate the document in its SAP Library structure

Use

When you install a technical object, you can choose the type of MPL check the system carries out on the configuration.

      Check top MPL

      Check MPL of installed object

      No MPL check

Prerequisites

You must choose the required check option in Customizing under Plant Maintenance and Customer Service Maintenance and Service Processing Configuration Control Make General Settings for Installation/Dismantling.

Features

Check Top MPL

If you have a multiple MPL structure, the check is run on the very top MPL of the structure.

Therefore, during installation, if you are trying to install a technical object into an assembly that is itself installed in a superior assembly, the check will fail.

For example, for safety reasons, you may want to force a user to remove an engine from an aircraft (represents the top MPL) before installing a new part in the engine (where the part to be installed is part of the engine’s MPL, and therefore not the top MPL).

Check MPL of Installed Object

In this check, the MPL of the installed object is checked, even if the part is installed in a higher MPL.

You must use this check if you want to use parameter effectivity or object dependency during installation.

No MPL Check

No MPL-related checks are run.
