Function documentation Evaluation of Range-of-Coverage Data with Evaluation Profile  Locate the document in its SAP Library structure

Use

The range-of-coverage values of the stock days' supply and the first and second receipt days' supply are key figures that enable you to check the current planning situation and quickly determine the critical materials.

You can use the evaluation profile to assign the desired limit values via the MRP controllers to a whole group of materials. In this way, you can define different limit values for the group of fast-moving items than for materials with a low inventory turnover.

In addition, you can assign material-specific limit values for ranges of coverage (days' supplies) to individual materials on a targeted basis, thus facilitating the determination of critical materials. You can define these material-specific limit values by activating the BAdI MD_SET_TRAFFIC_LIGHTS_DS in the enhancement spot ES_MD_MRP_EVALUATIONS.

The system determines the current ranges of coverage in the MRP run and compares them with the limit values that you have defined either for certain groups of materials or for individual materials.  If the stipulated limit values are fallen short of or exceeded, the system indicates this for the affected material in the form of red or yellow traffic lights.

Integration

You can display the evaluation results for the ranges of coverage (days' supplies) in the MRP list, the stock/requirements list, and the planning result.

Prerequisites

You have created an evaluation profile in Customizing for Material Requirements Planning and defined the limit values for the ranges of coverage there.

You have assigned the evaluation profile to an MRP group.

You have assigned the evaluation profile to the plant parameters.

You have assigned the MRP group to the materials to which the specified limit values are to apply.

You have invoked the Define Traffic Lights dialog box in the material list of the Collective Display of Stock/Requirements List and set the Material-Specific Limit Values indicator in this box.

You have invoked and run the report RMDDSUPPLY01 using transaction MDDS (or MSDS in long-term planning) to determine the critical materials.

Features

Use Material-Specific Limit Values

You use this indicator in the Define Traffic Lights dialog box in the collective display to specify that the system is to use the limit values that you have defined in the evaluation profile.

If you set the indicator and save, the system shows the evaluation profile assigned to the material in the dialog box and also shows the limit values with the associated traffic lights that you defined in the evaluation profile. In evaluating the ranges of coverage for the selected material, the system then uses the limit values from the evaluation profile and displays the corresponding traffic light status in the header details. You choose the material by positioning the cursor on the corresponding line.

If you do not set the indicator, the system displays the user-specific limit values. You can change these values. In carrying out the evaluation of the ranges of coverage for the selected material, the system then uses these user-specific limit values. For the setting to become effective, you must now save.

Displaying the Traffic Lights in the Header Details

On the Ranges of Coverage tab page, the range-of-coverage values determined by the system and the appropriate traffic light in each case are displayed for all three range-of-coverage types. You can tell from the color of the traffic light whether or not a range-of-coverage (days' supply) value is critical. In addition, the evaluation profile and the limit values from the evaluation profile are displayed. If you have defined material-specific limit values in the BAdI MD_SET_TRAFFIC_LIGHTS_DS, the BAdI Active indicator is set.

For more information, see Statistical Evaluations in the Header Details

Selection by Range-of-Coverage Values in the Collective Display of the Stock/Requirements List

On the Provisional Range of Coverage tab page on the initial screen of the collective display, you can carry out a targeted search for materials with critical range-of-coverage values. During the search, the material checks whether the range-of-coverage evaluation report RMDDSUPPLY01 has been run on the current day. If so, the system uses the range-of-coverage values determined by the report. If the report has not been run, the system uses the range-of-coverage values determined during the last planning run.
