Synchronization of Construction Type and Material Number

Use

You can use the equipment category to control, whether the construction type should be kept synchronous with the material number in the material master for serialized equipment.

Prerequisites

In Customizing under Plant Maintenance and Customer Service ® Master Data in Plant Maintenance and Customer Service ® Technical Objects ® Equipment ® Equipment Categories ® Maintain Equipment Category you have set the check indicator Keep construction type and material number synchronous.

Features

If this check is active and when creating or changing master records for serialized equipment you assign a material number, that is not the same as the construction type entered, the system behaves as follows:

If the indicator is 1, a warning message appears. You can still save the master record despite this, but this leads to master records in the system having a different construction type and material number.

If the indicator is 2, an information message appears and the construction type is automatically set the same as the material number.

If you create master records from goods movements, production orders, and so on, then the construction type and material number are always automatically the same.

Note

If master records exist in the system, for which the construction type and material number are different, and these numbers should be kept synchronous in the future, you can perform a conversion report.

The report RIEQUI_SYNC_MATNR_SUBMT sets the same construction type in all master records without taking into account the current maintained value of the material number.

After the conversion, you can set the indicator in Customizing such that the construction type must always be the same as the material number.
