Component documentationStatistical Process Control (SPC)

You can use this component to monitor production processes and product quality and to view graphical information which indicates whether the production process is in statistical control.

By monitoring variation in the manufacturing process by means of one or more SPC control charts, you can detect occurrences of special cause variation and prevent the production of defective materials.

Implementation Considerations

SAP ME SPC is applicable to any production process where characteristic data from the process or product features can be measured and used to control or limit variability in the production process.

Integration

To view SPC control charts, you must configure SAP ME to pass collected data to the SAP MII SPC engine that generates SPC charts and performs SPC analysis. For more information, see Setting Up Statistical Process Control (SPC).

You can define SPC chart templates in SAP MII Workbench and use them in SPC Chart Maintenance.

You can use a third party SFC engine by editing SAP ME SPC service extensions and creating a custom SPC integration service (see SPC Engine Extension and Service Extension Maintenance).

Features

SPC enables manufacturing engineers and production supervisors to perform statistical analysis of data collected during the manufacturing process at a site. The collected data determines whether characteristics of the material being manufactured, or of the process, fall within acceptable limits.

You can view SPC control charts and a summary of SPC trend rule statuses in SPC Display (see SPC Display)

Process Flow

The following figure illustrates the primary flow of user actions when setting up and using the SPC component.
