Start
You use this activity to indicate that you are beginning the physical work on selected SFC numbers at your operation and resource. The SFC numbers you have started are displayed in the Work List
in the POD.
The Start
activity validates that the selected resource is in a current state to process a product and is not in the Pending
status. The Pending
status indicates that the resource is currently active
with a product but is scheduled for downtime once the last active SFC number has been completed.
The SFC numbers in queue at an operation, that uses this resource, cannot be started until the resource is in a Productive
status.
The following table describes rules and settings that you can change for this activity:
Rule |

Applies when some, but not all, SFC numbers in a process lot are being started

When some SFC numbers in the process lot are not In Queue
at the operation (partial process lot) and the activity rule IGNORE_NOT_INQUEUE
is set to YES
, then the system acts as follows depending on
the CONFIRM_PROCESSLOT_OPTIONS
activity rule settings:
If set to Continue
, leaves all SFC numbers in the process lot and performs the Start
action for the SFC numbers In Queue
at the operation
If set to Remove
, removes the active SFC numbers from the process lot and performs the Start
action for them
If set to Cancel
, cancels the Start
action, rolls back the entire transaction and displays an informational message
If left blank, displays dialog with Continue
, Remove
and Cancel
buttons
If two or more of nonblank settings selected, displays a dialog with the specified settings as action buttons
If the activity rule IGNORE_NOT_INQUEUE
is set to NO
, the system cancels the Start
action and displays an error message
When the user starts a shop order where not all SFC numbers are In Queue
at the operation, the system acts as follows:
If the activity rule IGNORE_NOT_INQUEUE
is set to NO
, the system cancels the Start
action, and displays an error message.
If the activity rule IGNORE_NOT_INQUEUE
is set to YES
, .the SFC numbers in the shop order proceed with the Start
action.
During the Start
activity, the system validates the Maximum SFC In Work
system rule setting using the following priority sequence:
The system rule setting defined in User Maintenance
for the current POD user is compared with the current SFC In Work
number for this user.
The system rule setting defined in Resource Maintenance
is compared with the current SFC In Work
number for the resource selected in the POD.
